Peter Nicholl is an economist who was born in Cambridge, New Zealand in 1944. He worked for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand for 22 years, was on the Executive Board of the World Bank for two years, was for eight years the first Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and worked for fifteen years until 2019 as an International central bank advisor. He has written many article and book chapters on economic and financial issues but ‘Sanctions in Paradise’ is his first work of fiction.
The first draft of the book was written in the 1980s when Peter spent a year working at the Central Bank of Seychelles. He loved the people and the scenery and decided to feature them in a political thriller. However, that first draft was lost and Peter forgot about the book. But two years ago, he found a copy amongst a box of papers from his mother’s estate. He felt that must have been an omen so he revised the book and completed it.
